"When you raise your standards and turn "should" into "must," you are making an inner shift to take control over the quality of your life. Any area you are not getting what you want is because you haven't raised your standards." Tony Robbins

Obligations not confined to the limits of our society

We are not born into this world with fixed habits
"We are not born into this world with fixed habits. Neither do we inherit a noble character. Instead, we are given the privilege and opportunity of choosing which way of life we will follow-which habits we will form.
Confucius said that the nature of men is always the same. It is their habits that separate them. Good habits are not acquired simply by making good resolves, though the thought must precede the action. Good habits are developed in the workshop of our daily lives. It is not in the great moments of test and trial that character is built. That is only when it is displayed. The habits that direct our lives and form our character are fashioned in the often uneventful, commonplace routine of life. They are acquired by practice."

Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time
Martin Luther King:
Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time: the need for man to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to oppression and violence. Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.
- Nobel Prize acceptance speech, Stockholm, Sweden, 1964

Make special privilege for medical as well as religious freedom
"Unless we put medical freedom into the constitution, the time will come when medicine will organize an undercover dictatorship. To restrict the art of healing to one class of men, and deny equal privilege to others, will be to constitute the Bastille of medical science. All such laws are un-American and despotic and have no place in a republic. The constitution of this republic should make special privilege for medical as well as religious freedom."
